The Mission of Jesus: Triumph of God’s Kingdom in a World of Chaos
(for youth and adults)

Enter the Chaos. In John 17:26 Jesus says: “I made known your name to them, and I will continue to make it known…” In this study, you will deepen your understanding of this passionate revelation to a broken world God longs to redeem. Discover how Jesus triumphantly made God’s presence known on Earth, and how he asks you to do the same – bringing God’s shalom to the chaos of others. Join renowned teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan as he guides you through the land of the Bible. In each lesson, Vander Laan illuminates the historical, geographical, and cultural context of the sacred Scriptures. Filmed on location in Israel, this study will transform your understanding of God and challenge you to be a true follower of Jesus.

Week 1 – Introduction.  Ash Wednesday Service
Week 2 – Capernaum: Jesus Binds the Evil One
Week 3 – Decapolis: The Other Side – Jesus and the Man from the Tombs
Week 4 – Crucifixion: The Coronation of a King
Week 5 – Ascension: The King Takes His Throne
Week 6 – Pentecost: God Changed His Address

The Message (for children)

Parables are stories with a lesson, a literary style associated with Jesus’ teaching.  Just as they spoke to people in the context in which they were told, they speak to us today.  During Lent this year, children will explore some of Jesus’ parables and discover lessons they hold for them!
