Wondering how you can promote literacy among children and youth? Give them a book to read! Our Outreach Team is embarking on a new opportunity to support our community. We will be helping the Lit Limo, an endeavor of Richmond Public Schools, take books to the neighborhoods of Richmond. Children and youth can visit the Lit Limo when it makes its rounds, and they can pick out a book to KEEP! We are asking the congregation to donate either new or very gently used books, suitable for ages 0-18. A wide variety of interests and backgrounds should be considered when donating, as the children will be able to choose the books they want to read.

So how and when do we donate, you ask? There will be a bin in the Outreach Closet in the narthex at church. Not coming to the church building at this time? No worries — just email Sharon Pastore at sbpast@gmail.com or call her at (804)349-3566, and she will be happy to come to your house to pick up your donations! Donations will then be delivered to the RPS Library Instructional Specialist, Judy Deichman, on these dates:

Sunday, March 28
Sunday, June 27
Sunday, September 26
Wednesday, December 29

You can also bring donations to the Food and Supply Drive at church on Saturday, February 27, 10:00am to noon.

Read more about the Lit Limo on the Richmond Public Schools website page. Also, the Lit Limo was featured in a television news segment last July; you can watch the interview here.

Let’s get literature into the hands of children and youth!
