Habitat for Humanity – an opportunity to volunteer and enjoy fellowship

If you are not volunteering, please take the time when you are traveling near Chesterfield Town Center, to stop by for a few minutes. It is a beautiful facility. You will be surprised by what you can find to purchase. See the link, Restore_Donation_Flyer, for the wide range of home items that can be donated (Habitat will pick up large items). All sale proceeds go to fund renovation and build projects. Noted below are the SPC’s team workdays, but you can volunteer any time!
Restore Volunteer Team Days
1901 Roane St. – The team workday at the Roane store is the 1st Thursday of the month from 9-1 p.m. Our team leader is Gina Ahern.
1201 Mall Drive- The team workday at the Mall Drive store is the 3rd Friday of the month. Our team leader is Kathy Hostetler, and her shifts vary. Shifts are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-5 p.m. Debbie Ropelewski and Scott Lau are usually volunteering. Sign up on VolunteerUp or contact one of the steering committee members.
If you have donations for Restore, remember that Habitat will pick up. Call the Mall Drive Restore, 299-4552, or check the link, Restore Pickup. Remember to check out the store when you are in the area.
One Great Salisbury Weekend included three Habitat projects, a home build, the Women’s Build, and work at the Mall Drive Restore. We had a total of 21 volunteers working. Thanks to Dave Steenkamer, Gina Ahern and Scott Lau for heading up these teams and for all the volunteers who participated.
Habitat has confirmed SPC will be working at the 5th Avenue Build on Saturday, July 27. We need a team of 8 volunteers. Contact Scott Lau with questions or to sign up. The tentative fall date is October 26.
*The second Saturday of each month is reserved for Richmond churches to work together, so you can also sign up for any of those Saturdays with volunteers from other churches.
To work with Paige Pierce, a regular Habitat volunteer, who works most Thursdays from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., sign up on VolunteerUp. There are not always volunteer spots available.
In addition to SPC’s builds, this year Habitat for Humanity is sponsoring a Unity Build. It is to be financed and built by as many area churches that want to become involved with Habitat. It will be a duplex. The build will kickoff in May and run through October/November. Additional details on the project can be found here: Unity Build Flier April. You can sign up on that link or contact any of the steering committee members to help you. We hope SPC can supply a steady flow of workers throughout this faith project.
May 19, 1-4 p.m.: Adult Lego Build Competition. Support Habitat by coming out to compete or vote at our first Adult LEGO build competition at Bingo Beer Company. For more information or to register a team, click HERE.
