Every year, The Salisbury Presbyterian Church holds churchwide events to focus on mission and outreach in our local community. Dates for these events change from year to year, but the hard work and mission focus remain constant.
On a Saturday morning, our congregation gathers early in the morning for a brief worship time. Everyone then breaks off into groups to move out into the community to work and volunteer at various organizations for the afternoon. This has become a wonderful opportunity for our entire church family to join together to help our friends in need and grow in service.
For one week out the year, Salisbury Presbyterian Church opens its doors to provide those in need with a bed to sleep in, food to eat, transportation to showers, and fun activities with our church members. We collaborate with churches all over Richmond to keep this amazing ministry in operation and look forward to the opportunity to help those in our community every year.
Every year, on Thanksgiving Day, we invite our congregation and anyone in the community to come out before you begin your eating and football watching festivities to get a little exercise and do something to help our hungry neighbors in the Greater Richmond Area. On Thanksgiving Day, we invite everyone to come out and participate in a 5K run/walk. Registration is available on the homepage of this website starting mid-late October. All the proceeds from the event including your registration fee and donated canned goods, go to support the Central Virginia Food Bank.
Members from our congregation and Union Presbyterian Seminary gather together on a Saturday afternoon to play 18 holes of golf. There is a fee to play and all the proceeds go to a scholarship for a deserving UPSem student. We are moving into our 18th year of this tournament which began with a beloved past church member, Joe Ward. We look forward to this event every year which occurs in the Spring.
